WebMay 10, 2000 · Well, we have an MSD Blaster 2 coil, and I was wondering if this would work, or if it would burn the Ignitor unit up. In the instructions, it said the coil must provide at least 1.5 ohms of resistance. Well, my MSD coil is around 1.2-1.3 So, what am I to do? But, you can use a Flame Thrower I coil with a Pertronix II module. Your coil has to have an equal or higher rated ohm resistance. And yes, you definately want to remove the resistance wire. WebSep 23, 2005 · Since a typical ballast resistor has about 1.5 ohms resistance, I surmise the following: (1) The 1.5 ohm coil is for use in cars with a ballast resistor; (2) The 3.0 ohm coil is for use in cars without a ballast resistor.
